Planning permission was obtained in February 2011 for the construction of a new three storey secondary school together with associated landscaping, access and sports pitches for Campsmount Technology College, Doncaster. The College is an 11-18 Foundation Trust School situated to the north of Doncaster, serving the ex-mining communities of Askern, Campsall and Norton. The scheme was designed by CPMG Architects, and construction was completed in 2012.

The application was necessitated as the original school building was substantially destroyed by a fire in December 2009. The school has since carried out the majority of its education provision within a complex of temporary classrooms within the site. Some of the existing school buildings survive, including the recently constructed Sports Centre, and the technology block.
