PDA has achieved another appeal success on behalf of London & Quadrant Housing Association.
The development comprised the demolition of a redundant and unused single storey day centre and the erection of a row of 8 terraced houses and a block of 24 flats on the site, together with parking, amenity and landscaping at the Oakfield Centre, Oakfield Road in Penge. This is also another successful appeal collaboration with Frank Reynolds Architects who provided the design and architectural services for the project.
The appeal was against the failure of Bromley Council to determine the application and was considered at a hearing in April.
The development was based on Passivhaus principles, which the Inspector described as ‘a laudable design methodology on the part of the appellant which should help in meeting long term sustainable building objectives with low costs for the occupiers’.
An application for an award of full costs against the Council was also allowed.
