PDA gained planning permission for the new £16m development of the Quest Academy – Coloma Trust in Selson, Croydon. The development comprised the demolition of the existing school buildings, and the construction a brand new Academy with associated access, landscaping and parking. The new school building will have capacity for 900 students aged 11 to 16 years as well as 215 student capacity for the Academy’s expanding sixth form. In addition, the development will include new facilities for the Monks Hill Sports Centre and space for a new community facility.
PDA acted on behalf of Wates Construction Ltd and in association with CPMG Architects. Key planning issues to overcome included the school’s proximity to the Green Belt, the scheme’s visual impact as well as traffic and parking implications. Early engagement with the Council through pre-application consultation, as well as with the local community was instrumental in securing this planning success.
